[EN] Robert Chouraqui self-taught photographer is the photographer of strange fashion. His manga pinups, who are close to the heroines of comics, are women from all over the world and he captures them in images that go around the world. These naked-dressed are more in the affiliation of fashion photographers than in the vein of nude photos. These pretty amazons set the goal as if he was stealing their soul and they let themselves be photographed in a mix of challenge and abandonment.
The work of Robert Chouraqui, very recognizable, was broadcast by many magazines and was published in a dozen art books who quickly became collectors. He has taught internships in France (Arles, Paris, Bievres, Cevennes) and in the United States (L.A., Arizona). Several new books from him have just been released and are available on BLURB.
Robert Chouraqui came to the picture since the 70’s psychedelic after being part of one of the few major French groups of LIGHT SHOW. In 2008 he recreates these screenings of the ANDROIDE LIGHTSHOW at the request of the CAPC, the great museum of contemporary art of Bordeaux, for an exhibition-festival on psychedelism, and since he ensures these projections for great occasions in France and the abroad, for fashion shows and music concerts (Jeff Mills, Laurent Garnier, …) and lately for three evenings at BAMPFA, the museum of art of Berkeley, for the 50th anniversary of the hippie years.
He is the photographer of shadows and lights and from his psychedelic universe comes his taste and his mastery of strange and colorful atmospheres. Today he mixes the worlds of photography, video and VJing.

Ses Pinups MANGA proches des héroïnes de la BD sont des femmes venus du monde entier et il les capture dans des images qui font le tour du monde. Ces nus-habillés situent plus CHOURAQUI dans la filiation des photographes de mode que dans la veine des photos de nu. Ces jolies amazones fixent l’objectif comme s’il allait leur voler leur âme et elles se laissent photographier dans un mélange de défi et d’abandon. Le travail de Robert CHOURAQUI, très reconnaissable, a été diffusé par de très nombreux magazines et a été publié dans une douzaine de livres d’art devenus rapidement collector. Il a animé des stages en France (ARLES, PARIS, BIEVRES, CEVENNES) et aux Etats-Unis (L.A., ARIZONA). Plusieurs nouveaux livres de lui viennent de sortir et sont disponibles sur BLURB.com.
Robert CHOURAQUI est venu à la photo depuis les années 70 psychédéliques après avoir fait partie d’un des rares grands groupes français de LIGHT SHOW (spectacle de lumière). En 2008 il récrée ces projections de L’ANDROIDE LIGHTSHOW à la demande du CAPC le grand musée d’art contemporain de BORDEAUX pour une expo-festival sur le psychédélisme, et depuis il assure ces projections pour de grandes occasions en France et à l’étranger, pour des shows de mode et des concerts de musique (JEFF MILLS, Laurent GARNIER, …) et dernièrement pour trois soirées au musée d’ART BAMPFA de BERKELEY pour le 50ème anniversaire des années hippies.
